Garrett Brown, HDFS student, DuBois Area High School, DuBois, PA.
Garrett Brown, who attended DuBois Area High School, is in his second year in the HDFS program on campus. He choose his major because he enjoys working with children. He currently plays center field for the PSUD baseball team. HIs future plan is to open his own sports complex. His advice to incoming students is that: "Tough times don't last, but tough people do."
Jodalynn Warholak, HDFS student, DuBois Central Catholic, DuBois, PA
Jodalynn Warholak is a graduate from DuBois Central Catholic. She is pursuing her Associate's degree in Human Development and Family Studies at the Penn State DuBois campus. Jodalynn is planning to graduate in December of 2017. When asked why she chose Penn State DuBois, she said, "I like the small campus." Her plans for the future include working with CYS or in the foster care system.
Caleb Meighen, Civil Engineering student, DuBois, PA
Caleb Meighen is a sophomore in the Civil Engineering program at PSD. On campus, he is involved with the engineering club, the HDFS club, and the Entrepeurship club. Caleb is from DuBois and when asked why he chose this campus, he said, “I chose PSD because it was close to home and I wanted to still receive at penn state education. Fun fact: He is the Nittany Lion mascot. His hobbies include hunting and fishing. His advice to current and future students is to “find what you love and pursue it, there are no shortcuts to a place worth going.”
Nicole Kerr, Business student, DuBois, PA
Nicole Kerr is a senior from DuBois graduating in May 2016 with her Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing/Management. She is the Secretary of Business Society Club. Her hobbies include hiking, kayaking, and riding four wheelers. She likes Penn State DuBois because of the small campus, small classes, and the professors actually learn who you are instead of looking at you as just another student. She stated that she likes the campus because everyone is so friendly and helpful. When asked what she would tell undecided students about where to go to school she said, “When picking a school, choose somewhere that has the key features you want in a school since you will be spending four years there. For instance, the major you want to pursue, clubs that interest you, and location.”
Sarah Snyder, Business Management student, DuBois Area High School, DuBois, PA
Sarah Snyder is a student at Penn State pursuing her degree in business mgmt. with a specialty in strategic leadership. She is involved with multiple groups on campus incluidg the Campus Activities Board, Student Government, Business Society, Christian Student Fellowship, and Delta Mu Sigma. Sarah also has her own photography business where she works at events such as weddings, family events, and also takes senior photos. She also took some of the photos you see on the campus website! Sarah gained in interest in Penn State through her dual enrollment studies at DAHS. The most interesting events she has attended so far on campus have been breakfast with santa where she decorated stockings with children, and the Basketball White Out Game. Her future goals are to keep doing photography through college and go into business consulting. When asked for advice for upcoming students she said, “Don’t stress out about college because everything will fall into place. Be involved on campus because it is a great way to meet people.”
